NES Open Tournament Golf

It is telling that the comments section of videos of “NES Open Tournament Golf” are full of people going “oh, THAT’S how you play the game, thanks for this!” I mean, it’s golf. You hit a ball towards a hole. That’s hard to complicate, right? (Nintendo even proved they knew how to make a serviceable golf game in the form of “Golf” seven years prior.) Here, though, you must guide Mario through every rotten stage of golf you’d think would be expelled from interactive entertainment, then finagle a terrible power bar in route to always scoring just above par. Yay.
