Our Friend, Martin
Online discussions I've found of this film suggest this was screened at a great many elementary and middle schools for a time, and I can see why, what with it covering the life and accomplishments of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. while wrapped up in dat 90s cool kid vibe, yo. The humor is cringey and has not aged well, while the material around King is surprisingly well-realized and pulls few punches in conveying his struggles. The ending is evocative and thoughtful, a hopeful tearjerker that almost makes you forget one of the kids here is a walking fat joke.
