Palm Springs

It might have been enough if “Palm Springs” just openly embraced its bonkers, pitch-black sense of humor for its duration (there’s plenty of evidence Cristin Milioti and Andy Sandberg could have pulled this off), but it has bigger ideas than hitting the funny bone. I’m not about to get into how it does so, but “Palm Springs” slowly and subtly introduces various philosophical concepts and takes its time exploring them without being anywhere near as boring as that might sound (really), and the end result is a satisfying romantic comedy that could end up being the best film of 2020.
