Power Quest

“Power Quest” came out at the right time for a product like it: a fighting game with RPG and adventure elements for the Game Boy Color at a time when kids were asking for the system in droves to play “Pokemon”. It is just too bad that the execution was so far behind what it needed to be. The fighting mechanics were behind the times even considering the low bar for the genre on portable systems, and progressing consists of mostly grinding weak foes to afford gear so that you’re on par with the next boss. A maddening, wasted opportunity.
