Resident Evil 7: Biohazard

I don’t feel bad about singling out RE7’s many disconnects because (it’s a valid criticism but also) one of the folks behind it gave a GDC talk about how the splintered development meant it couldn’t gel into a complete whole. Most of those disconnected parts are great, specifically the first two-thirds where you’re combating a redneck family that MIGHT represent an insensitive portrait of Southern folk, though I suspect Southern folk would enjoy RE7 more than most. Then the game starts taking itself seriously and works to justify being an RE title and the floor gives out. Flawed but engaging.
