Run Lola Run
I’m baffled at arguments that “Lola” is a deep film with a strong message; it pays lip service to big ideas, sure, but if a film shares a plot twist with “Two Distant Strangers”, forgive me for leaving my philosophy textbook in my dorm. It’s a smartly written film otherwise, an efficient comedy disguised as a thriller with one of the best soundtracks of the 90s whose production values sometimes lags behind modern standards (there’s one late bit, probably a pick-up, that looks like it was shot on a potato) but mostly maintains its energetic, likable tone for its duration.
