Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (revisited)

The film I find most easily comparable to “Spider-Verse” isn’t another Spider-Man film or any other superhero film but “Mad Max: Fury Road”. Both inspire similar lines of thinking (“how does this exist” morphing into “why don’t we have a million more films like this”), both are joys to look at, both only improve the more you analyze them, and both are films that certain doomsayers that have a voice in the right circles claim can never be made inside the Hollywood system. I’d say I hesitate to choose between them, but “Spider-Verse” DOES have that killer end gag, so…
