Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

It’s been a long time since I walked out of a theater thinking, “I need to be in the audience on opening night of the sequel.” No part of “Spider-Verse” is “the boring part”; the animation is so busy that I’d mistake it for being wildly experimental if it weren’t so thoroughly principled, and the actual action sequences are the best fight scenes in any movie since “Kubo and the Two Strings”. Every joke lands, every plot beat is interesting, and every frame of the film sparkles with love for the source material. Among the best superhero films ever made.
