Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope

There are plenty of beloved films from the 70’s that require a bit of leeway from modern audiences to better appreciate what is attempted. “A New Hope” is not one of those films. A perfect telling of the classic hero’s journey, the first “Star Wars” is a two-hour romp that feels like it barely tops an hour due to its brisk pacing, rich characterization, and wonderful action set pieces that rely more on the conveyed personality over the technical prowess of it all, culminating in one of the best executed climaxes in the history of cinema. A necessary viewing experience.
