Super Mario World

It’s hard to hate a Mario game, and I don’t hate this one, it’s just that I think the barrier for entry might be too low, if that’s possible. Lacking the brutal nature of 1 and “Lost Levels”, the unbridled exploratory nature of 3, and the eccentricity of 2, “World” aims to succeed by building around its vibrant colors and expanded cast to sell a more proper Mushroom Kingdom. It feels good, not great. I miss sweating jumps. I can see why I loved this back in the day, but now, I merely like it. A good introduction to platformers.
