The Boys (Season One)

It’s like if “Watchmen” had the sense of humor and taste for violence of “Kick-Ass” and can be as disjointed as that sounds. It’s so full of itself that, without getting into spoilers, its treatment of some controversial topics can get those who share its politics to go “yeah, we get it, can you move on”. It also doesn’t help that it mines its ultra-violence for drama and comedy with little to signpost the difference (it gets better about this in its second half). It’s never not interesting, though, and it’s not impossible that a second season could be great.
