The Chessmaster (NES version)
There are so many free resources anyone can use to get into chess that renders something like this, one of the most visible versions of a chess teacher that sold millions of copies, obsolete to a comic degree in the modern age. That said, the novice setting struggles to combat Scholar’s Mate and on the highest skill, it couldn’t get out of book moves before taking over ten minutes to calculate the next move, flaws I struggle to justify as being acceptable even for its time. Not as unique as “CyberChess” but definitely more approachable, though, ultimately, just as bad.
