The Kid Detective
A darkly comic and unsettling take on a quarter-life crisis filtered through the melodramatic tale of a kid sleuth who didn’t gain one iota of intellect between his eleventh and thirty-first birthdays, “The Kid Detective”, between its alienating premise, its release being borked by big virus, and being of unquestionable quality, seems destined for cult status. I can’t think of a better possible lead for the title character than Adam Brody and his signature dry wit, and while the film might lose a bit of steam in its second act, the knockout final act more than makes up for it.
