The Lion King (1994 film; version with the “Morning Report” number and the weird crocodiles watched for review)

This is about as complete of a tragicomedy you could hope for with a Disney film in under ninety minutes. That brief runtime means “The Lion King” has to go full throttle at every turn, and whether you’ll appreciate that the film has no fluff (save that blasted “Morning Report” number) or hate it for not allowing anything to sink in might depend on your mood. As for myself, well, I don’t feel comfortable championing this as a high point of 90s cinema anymore, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have a great time revisiting this one.
