ROH’s then-booker Gabe Sapolsky claims he was tempted to slot Eddy Guerrero vs. Super Crazy as the main event of the promotion’s first show instead of this, but time has been kind to what he ultimately landed on. Put aside a few quibbles that make this resemble something you’d see outside of a video game, a nonsensical rope break, and madcap commentary (“MISAWA-LIKE ELBOWS”) and you have yourself a fun watch with a lot of athleticism and an appreciable narrative of Daniels trying to contain the chaos. This might’ve gotten more MOTY votes if it weren’t for the SmackDown Six.
