The Matrix Resurrections

What’s proven frustrating to many who didn’t enjoy “Resurrections” seems to be their distaste for its overall direction. I have something of an opposite problem—I can imagine a project that follows many of the same beats as “Resurrections” that I would respond well to, yet I didn’t respond well to this film. What aims to be contemplative reflection often feels like crowd-pleasing pandering (though some of it works), what aims to be exciting action has a “been there, done that” feel, heck, even the music isn’t up to par. I didn’t hate this, but I didn’t like it, either.
