The Platform

Netflix fanatics sure love them some heavy-handed metaphors, don’t they? “The Platform”, about an improbably-tall facility that supplies enough food for its denizens to eat comfortably but feeds from the top down and OH NO WE LIVE IN A SOCIETY, has the ambition of a Beckett play, the subtlety of “Cube”, and the grace of an elephant attempting Swan Lake. Okay, that last bit’s unfair—“The Platform” is well-executed within its parameters, enough that this might have been at least decent if the story had a stronger foundation, but it’s handicapped from the start and never makes up the difference.
