The Thing (1982 film)

I cannot say enough good things about “The Thing”. Disregard the creature effects (still nightmarish almost forty years later) and you have a taut, expertly crafted and shot SF horror-thriller with a cast eager to flesh out characterization towards a gaggle of men operating under extreme circumstances. I struggle to think of ways this could have been any better, and the most I can think of are three shots in the film that, well, they aren’t terrible but probably could have been punched up in post-production. The rest is just about perfect, arguably the best horror film of the 1980s.
