The spectacle of the entrances is something else. Modern wrestling still has this sort of grandiose pageantry, but it is rarely willing to indulge in this much kitsch, of blinking lights and big lights to create such a rich atmosphere. It serves as reminder that, sure, headlocks and piledrivers are cool and all, but the chief appeal of wrestling at its biggest stage is about the conveyance of something epic, a feeling that even the best independent promotions can never hope to come close to approaching. Corny but captivating, the entrances still hold up. Then the match starts, and, well...
