Tyler Bate vs. Jordan Devlin / JD McDonagh, from WWE NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool II

Both guys entered this show having accrued resumes of outstanding contests, so you can imagine how disappointed I was in this train wreck. I’ve watched it twice now and I think most of it comes down to Devlin’s inability to play the character cast for him—the script calls for him to be evil incarnate when his moveset casts him as a good guy with a slight jerkass side. I was begging for mercy at the sloppy punching part and calling for sanity when the crowd chanted “fight forever”. A hideous match, though arguably still the high point of the show.
