Wingspan (Steam version)

The biggest shortcoming with the physical version of “Wingspan” comes with the instruction book; it feels like every other paragraph omits a concluding sentence that would prevent dumb clods from making things more boring than they’re supposed to be. The electronic version idiotproofs the process and reveals a relaxing but thoughtful experience, where the soft illustrations and Sufjanesque melodies accompany a game that always makes you feel like you’re neglecting some part of your board and are mere moves away from disaster. It better registers as understated and fascinating contrast than incongruity, though, enough to make me side-eye the DLC.
