X (2022 film)

An odd film with a variable success rate between all its attempting, though I’m ultimately more positive than negative towards it. “X” is at its best in its first half, when its trashy sense of fun (and commitment to capturing the period) is intercut with visions from the arthouse, but it becomes less interesting as its commentary becomes more explicit and the film pauses for shots seemingly included only to get featured by One Perfect Shot. Still, the violence is fun, there’s plenty of great acting (especially from Mia Goth), and I’m left looking forward to the prequel and sequel.
