A Way Out (PC version; campaign completed via local multiplayer)

Stripped down to its core elements, “Out” seems admirable: a co-operative emotional journey of two flawed men with fractured home lives that comes to a stunning and (hopefully) heartbreaking conclusion. There are moments in play when it successfully conveys the tones it aspires to, but it fails more often than it succeeds and faceplants at its most crucial junctions, poorly paced and choreographed exposition that feels written by Tommy Wiseau if he feel in love with “The Departed” and “Scarface”. Its greatest joys came with its wannabe dramatic cutscenes being undercut by a player’s avatar gormlessly posing in the background.
