Ad Astra

“Ad Astra”, for all the pretenses it puts up about being a space saga or a horror film, is about people who lie to each other and themselves, unable to face the flat truths of what they’ve done and what they want, and how our society has taken to rewarding such behavior while regarding all besides stoicism as something that needs to be stomped out. There are some who won’t respond well to this sort of material, especially in a film with space monkeys and fights on the Moon, but I left the theater feeling a “good” kind of exhaustion.
