Genichiro Tenryu and Toshiaki Kawada vs. Stan Hansen and Terry Gordy, AJPW Real Tag Finals 1988
I don't want to ever hear someone say that old wrestling doesn't hold up. These guys had the essence of wrestling drama down to a T, to the point that this encounter could have happened at the most recent Wrestle Kingdom and gone over like gangbusters. This is twenty minutes that feels like it needs twenty minutes, a war that feels divorced enough from the AJPW aesthetic that followed that maybe this should've happened at a WrestleMania, if only to raise the bar to the modern standard in expedient fashion. Have I made it clear that I love this match?
