Heathers (1988 film)

“Heathers” is the definition of a film that can’t be made these days, at least when it comes to the specifics. A film in which high school students getting offed is played for laughs couldn’t be distributed even among the indie film circuit these days. What could (and should) be ripped wholesale from “Heathers” is its gleefully devilish humor and bite, from its snappy, endlessly quotable dialogue to its absurd sequences of unhinged batfuck insanity. If you’re confused as to why some hold Winona Ryder in high regard, here’s your answer. “Mean Girls” for the 80s, but even more brazen.
