Some Kind of Heaven

I have no idea why this wasn’t nominated for any Academy Awards. This documentary about four odd souls living in the world’s largest retirement community never settles on being just charming, which might have been enough for most audiences; rather, “Heaven” loves capturing captivating tableaus and letting them serve as punctuation and contrast to the stories around them, serving as understated narration. From the stunning cinematography to the engaging subjects to the brisk runtime, “Some” is an easy and rewarding viewing experience, and there’s no reason for it to not have been up for Best Documentary besides no FYC campaign.
