Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens

The last Force Pull of the film is a thing of beauty. The ludic language greatly telegraphs that this will mark the return of an old character before finally saying, “naw, our new creations have got this”. And they do—this is a soft reboot, sure, but this is a soft reboot done right, with the old elements serving to accentuate and assist the new cast, all of whom fit naturally in this universe. It goes a little overboard in terms of fan service, but this was far more fulfilling than I was expecting. The third best “Star Wars” film*.
