Star Wars: Episode VIII: The Last Jedi

"Because we're gonna own 2091 / With reading and crossbows and way more fun!" -Neko Case and Kelly Hogan, "These Aren't The Droids"

"The Force Awakens" could get away with being a soft reboot, but "The Last Jedi" couldn't lean on "Empire" without annihilating the worth of the new trilogy. Thus, we instead get a reflective and fast-paced sequel, one that crams too much in its first third and doesn't know how to end but offers a progressive look at a galaxy far, far away that retains much of the franchise's signature wit. It's almost as good as Johnson's previous "Looper".
