Superbad

It's saying a lot about "Superbad"'s ear for comedy that it can leapfrog the problematic aspects of its setup so well. It's a film where every scene has a quotable line and a gesture that's earned some degree of memetic status. It's a film focused on capturing the spirit of youth and magnifying its ridiculous aspects to comical heights. This is a film that doesn't peak early in spite of its first conversation being an earnest and absurd discussion of adult films. Non-sequitors and dick jokes aren't funny by themselves, but "Superbad" shows they can work if crafted with care.
