Suspiria (1977 film)

I’ve long heard that “Suspiria” has some of the most disturbing and messed-up scenes ever put on film, but I’d be lying if I joined that chorus. Chalk it up to having experienced countless works inspired by “Suspiria” (especially the 1995 Super Famicom title “Clock Tower”) or that countless atrocities have been conveyed onscreen since this film, but nothing here made me question the existence of a benevolent God. “Suspiria” is certainly more beautiful than most horror, though, from its stunning use of color to its inspired soundtrack. This works better as an art film than as a horror film.
