The Darkness (video game)

Part of this game’s initial warm reception could be owed to the novelty of its commitment to cinematic aspirations, a notion that has been villainized as of late. The difference between this and what I’ve read of “The Order: 1886” is that the latter conjures drama through global machinations while the former is an emotional personal journey, and I (and a lot of people) vastly prefer the former. Throw in an astounding vocal performance from Mike Patton as the title character and you have an underrated gem from the seventh generation of console games. If only it felt more complete.
